UPM Raflatac is demonstrating how its latest product innovations will affect the packaging market at Pack Expo International 2014.  

UPM Raflatac’s new Vanish line features a range of ultra-thin, clear PET films that are designed for companies in the beverage, food package and personal care industries. In the beverage segment, Vanish labels offer an alternative to pre-printed bottles from an investment, cost and storage standpoint.

New decorating methods for these clear films can also serve as key differentiators in the spirits, energy drink and bottled water markets. When paired with water-whitening resistant adhesive, Vanish products are intended to appeal to the eye in the cooler and on the shelf.

The self-adhesive label material producer also hopes to influence customers purchasing decisions in industries like food packaging, which have historically been dominated by paper labels or glue-applied wraps. The films are designed to incorporate the actual product into label designs and graphics while still emphasizing the brand.

Vanish labelstocks feature the effect of visuals on clear glass and rigid PET containers to boost product impressions.

The company’s renewed pharmaceutical portfolio covers specifications, application diversity and product compliance, along with products for small diameter labelling, migration-safe labelstocks and products that tolerate extreme low-temperatures and cryopreservation. Materials that offer luminescent label detection are also featured.

UPM Raflatac’s products for dry toner, LED toner, water-based ink-jet dye and water-based ink-jet pigmented inks benefit from print-on-demand capabilities. The business advantages include operational versatility, exceptional printability, image integrity and aesthetic appeal.

The portfolio features products like Polyjet Clear and Polyjet Gloss White PP inkjet labelstocks that are nearly water-resistant films  — which is highly dependent upon ink choice and environmental conditions — as well as several high-performance VIP films that conform to sections two and three of the BS5609 standard for chemical drum labeling.

Finally, the “Label of Life” concept is backed by a new, user-friendly tool that is designed to help companies understand the life cycle impacts of different labelstock products. It also gives them access to credible information on the environmental performance of certain labels.
